Reason, Love-Love, Reason
What wonderful dusk
When you were reflective, and I didn't hide
My Playboy party joke,
Your icecream at your side.
We touched, we two, in familiar comfort.
Shoulder to shoulder,
Elbow to elbow,
A place we shouldn't be, and yet...
I touched your face,
And you were, covered, still cold.
I steal, I do, but you steal from me, too.
I ransom your outrage by concern,
You claim the well to my latent passion.
Dawn's sun welcomes newborn leaf:
How good it felt to be known.
I cannot trust my heart of lust.
It pines to quench your soul,
And consume your body
Inside to out.
Only Providence supplies walls of Reason to keep me.
The God-given balance remains:
Do I really know what I want?
Can you insulate your high voltage heart?
Am I willing to fight for whom I love?
Reason, love, love, reason...
Love burns indiscriminately,
And the brain shrinks at the thought.
